Celebration of the International Honey Bee Day
On the occasion of the International Honey Bee Day, a fair of small and medium-sized companies was held in Flores, Guatemala on May 20th. The event was organized by the Mesa de Miel de Petén, a coordination entity to manage and strengthen beekeeping in which government institutions, apicultural producers and non-governmental organizations participate.

Organic Honey Producers Network of Bala’an K’aax, Mexico
The Organic Honey Producers Network of Bala’an K’aax, Quintana Roo, Mexico is composed of 35 beekeepers from different communities located in and around the Flora and Fauna Protection Area of Bala’an K’aax. The group´s objective is to increase the production of organic honey and seek better market conditions for the sale of their honey.

Mexico, Guatemala and Belize exchange experiences in beekeeping
As part of the activities developed by the GIZ Selva Maya Program in its 3rd line of work: “Sustainable alternatives to increase income”; The past 26th and 27th of April, 2016 was carried out in the municipality of Calakmul, Campeche; An exchange of experiences on sustainable beekeeping issues, involving government agencies and honey producers from Belize, Guatemala and Mexico, with the aim of promoting alliances and synergies to strengthen beekeeping activity in the three countries.
